This award from Mountain Training is designed to enable coaches to be more effective in coaching the fundamental movement skills of climbing. Foundation Coaches will usually be concerned with the stimulating delivery of a single session to a group of individuals. Registering for this award will also register you for the Development Coach element of the Coaching scheme.

Fundamentals & Physical Training
Whether climbing or coaching indoors, on the crags, or in the Alps these workshops from the BMC cover a range of themes that will broaden your knowledge and improve your coaching. The courses will also help you improve your own personal climbing.
FUNdamentals of Climbing
Good technique and movement are the bedrock of climbing. These workshops progressively explore climbing movement.
FUN1 – Monday, July 2 – this workshop focuses on the important themes that underpin climbing movement and is part of the training for the Foundation Coach Award.
FUN2 – Tuesday, July 3 – building upon the first workshop, this one looks at how specific techniques can be coached and is part of the training for the Development Coach Award.
Two workshops that progressively explore the principles of physical training and the design of periodised training plans.
PT1 – Wednesday, July 4 – participants need be a competent lead belayer and climb 6a comfortably to get the most out of the Physical Training 1 workshop.
