Stronghold’s Covid-19 safe operating policy adheres to the latest guidance from the government, UKActive and the Association of British Climbing Walls (ABC), concerning hygiene and safety procedures.

If you feel unwell at all, please do not visit the centre. Please see our full Terms & Conditions for cancellation terms.

In line with government guidance, we will limit the number of customers we can have in the centre at one time. To do this we have introduced an online booking system with 2-hour slots, as well as a check in/check out system to monitor capacity. You may turn up at any point during your time slot but will not be able to stay later than your session end time. There will also be signage in each of our sub-areas to inform customers of the max number per area.

Masks will now be mandatory when not physically on a climbing wall or using gym equipment. This includes reception, changing areas, toilets and on the climbing mats. We aren’t insisting on the use of masks whilst actually climbing this will be left to the climbers discretion. However they must be replaced as soon as the climber is back on the ground.

This guidance is constantly under review and may change as the guidance evolves. We recommend you wear a mask at all times for maximum reduction of transmission, helping us to stay open.

Government guidance on social distancing MUST be followed by ALL visitors and this applies not only to the centre floor and the climbing area mats, but also the climbing wall. We have reduced our capacity below Govt guidance to keep the centre and our customers as spaced out as possible. Throughout the centre there will be posters encouraging climbers to maintain social distancing at all times. Please help us by following social distancing guidelines that we have all come to know so well in everyday life.

We will have Perspex screens at the front and exit desks for staff and customer protection. We have an hourly cleaning schedule in place. Regular floor walks will be taking place to ensure the climbing centre is kept safe as well as clean. We are also here to offer you any help whilst you get back up to speed following this long break.

Hand sanitiser will be available at entrance and exit and around the centre. We ask that all customers use it when entering the centre.

All facilities are open but we recommend that people arrive ‘ready to climb’ as much as possible. There will be a one way system through the changing rooms so we ask that you follow this when using the facilities. The showers will be open and lockers will be available but please remember to bring your own padlock.

We will continue with our increased ventilation efforts throughout the centre by keeping as many windows and exits open as possible.

Hire shoes are still available. We sanitise hire shoes between each use. We will only hire out liquid chalk and encourage limited use of loose chalk when climbing.

The Gym will be open but will have maximum capacities which will be displayed. Please keep to these numbers. We will also provide blue roll and cleaning materials to wipe down any equipment you use.

We have bottle refills at two locations within the centre. These are motion sensors so there is no need to touch them.

We will be following government guidance and only offering take away service at Stronghold.
