We held our first social climbing event at Stronghold: London Fields on Friday 25th February. We are extremely proud to say it was a resounding success with a fantastic turnout, great vibes and funds raised for our chosen charity.
The idea behind the JAM was to create a social, fun, comp style evening that benefitted both the local climbing scene and the local community. This first event we partnered with the Hackney Doorways project who operate the Hackney Night Shelter and Womens Shelter in the borough, to raise awareness and cash for this great organisation.
The JAM has a simple premise – we set 25 brand new problems from V0 to V8, for every send by a competitor, Stronghold donates 50p to the chosen charity. To join the event and help raise funds through climbing, each competitor paid £3, with this amount also being donated to the chosen charity. There was no grand prizes for any climber (as the JAM is not about crowning a champion) but we did hold a raffle prize draw for all entrants, giving away prizes from punch cards to Stronghold tees and vests.
The first JAM kicked off at 6pm with a steady stream of entrants coming in to enjoy the new problems and live DJ for the evening. We were amazed by the constant stream of keen climbers and we were really proud of the fantastic feedback we got from our first event here at Stronghold: London Fields.
We are very proud to announce that on the night the Stronghold community helped raise £1215 for the Hackney Doorways project. Thanks to all who turned up, donated and pushed themselves to get those extra tops that helped raise this fantastic total. We will be back with our second JAM on Friday 25th March so mark the date in the calendar. Another night of quality problems & top tunes awaits. See some photos from our first JAM event below.
If you enjoyed the top tunes and competition problems make sure to check out our Tottenham Hale Spring series with Round 2 kicking off on Thursday 3rd March with a Tenaya shoe demo, Kletterkalk sampling and live DJ.
